Duncan qualified in 1990 and worked in the National Health Service for several years. He has extensive experience, having worked with a wide range of patients and conditions, specialising in diagnosis and management of musculo skeletal pathologies. His work history includes Clinical Specialist roles in Upper Limb, Lower Limb and Spinal condition, working closely with Orthopaedic surgeons.
Duncan is vastly experienced in the management and prevention of running injuries. He has worked with many of Great Britain’s top distance runners.
His UK Athletics work includes:
- • Several GB athletics team altitude camps in the French Pyrenees and in Kenya
- • Great Britain team Physiotherapist for the World half Marathon Championships
- • Great Britain team Physiotherapist for European Cup 10,000m
- • European Championships holding camp
- • Part of medical team at the European Championships in Barcelona 2010
- • Providing regular physiotherapy to GB Team members throughout the year
He is completing a PhD looking at the parameters of running gait in elite athletes and the effect of running injuries on biomechanics in the Gait laboratory at Salford University, where he currently lectures in Physiotherapy at Undergraduate and post graduate levels.
His specialist knowledge into managing athletics injuries comes from his extensive experience from training and competing as an athlete, with 65 minute half marathon PB and has run in the elite field at the London marathon finishing in the top 30.
Paul Savage

Paul qualified at the University of the West of England, Bristol in 1998 then worked for 4 years within the NHS before moving into the Private sector in 2002.
Paul joined the team at Athlete Matters in 2007 and now works full-time at the clinic. In September 2010 he will be starting a part-time Masters degree in Acupuncture.
Paul specialises in treating triathletes, cyclists and runners with his extensive skills of manual therapy, sports massage, core stability, exercise prescription and acupuncture.
Paul also offers a bike-fitting service where his expertise lies in his ability to combine his knowledge of cycling and human movement to assess bike fit in the treatment and prevention of overuse injuries. This is a unique service which uses a series of on and off the bike measurements and bike fitting tools to optimise a client's cycling position.
For the past five years Paul has represented Great Britain at age-group level in triathlon. He finished 3rd at the European Triathlon Championships in Athlone, Ireland in 2010 and 5th (1st GB) in the World Championships (both 30-34 age group). He is a good runner with a 10k PB of 31.59. Paul is also a keen skier and has vast experience in rehabilitation following skiing injuries.
Paul understands the demands of competitive sport and the frustration of injury. His clients benefit from a combination of advanced physiotherapy skills and training advice based on his own personal experiences as an athlete and physiotherapist.
Alex O’Gorman

Alex graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University and has since worked in the musculoskeletal area in private practice. Alex consolidated his experience whilst working in the NHS, initially as a junior Whythenshawe hospital and later specialising in orthopaedic rehabilitation.
Alex has a keen interest in back and lower limb injuries, and this is aided by his experience competing with elite athletes, having run for the North of England on several occasions.
Alex has worked with several international distance runners return from injury and has worked with some of the world’s best athletes whilst working as a physiotherapist for The Great Run events.
Ritchie Barber

Ritchie graduated from Salford University with a first class honours degree in Physiotherapy.
His experiences have led his developing an insight into managing performance in swimmers and disabled athletes.
Ritchie competed at the highest levels in the pool at World Championships and Paralympic games culminating at Sydney 2000 where he was narrowly beaten into the silver medal position.
Jordana Anderson

Jordana graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University and initially returned to her native Canada, where she passed further exams to practice in Canada. Eventually she progressed to managing the physiotherapy services in her local hospital. Since returning to the UK,
Jordana has worked as a Senior Physiotherapist at Salford Hospitals NHS trust and more recently in Central Manchester, where she specialised in Musculoskeletal outpatients.
Jordana is also a fully trained and highly skilled Pilates Instructor and uses this in her treatment approach to re-educate movement dysfunction- quite often the focal cause of overuse injuries.
Her other post graduate training is in sports injuries and she is skilled in her hands on approach to treatment. Jordana is an ex- Professional figure skater and uses her knowledge as Team Physiotherapist to the Manchester Phoenix Ice Hockey Team. These days she trains to compete in half marathons and triathlon and loves her new Cannondale road bike.
Hannah Griffiths

Hannah qualified at Loughborough in January 2009, where she completed an Msc in Exercise Physiology, being particularly interested in immune responses to prolonged exercise. Hannah also completed a two year Msc in Physiotherapy (Pre-reg) at Manchester Metropolitan University, finishing in December 2010.
As a qualified sports masseuse Hannah has worked for the EIS, massaging elite runners, as-well as for Nottingham Forest Fc first team. She also runs for for Sale Harriers, preferring 3k and 5k on the track.
Andy Walling

Andy graduated from Salford University with a First Class Honours Degree in Physiotherapy.
He currently works as a Senior Out Patient Physio in the NHS, as well as being Bangor City and Portmadog Football Club Consultant Physio. Andy has extensive experience of elite sport physiotherapy, having worked for British Cycling, UK Athletics, Welsh athletics as well as Ynys Mon at the International Island Games. Andy has also been the team physio for Salomon UK since 2008.
Andy has worked for UK Athletics including covering Worls and European race walking events, combined events internationals, the European U23 Championships and UK athletics High altitude camp in Kenya.
Andy has a keen interest in athletics as a former Welsh International track and cross country runner. He also has a keen interest in tea and cakes so has to keep on putting in the miles!
