Sports Physiotherapy - Athletics & Running

Athlete Matters treat all sports injuries regardless of the sport and our list of experts is growing all the time. Our team includes Physiotherapists who work with International standard athletes and we aspire to give ALL our patients the same top level of treatment.

Our outstanding insight into running and running injuries means that we can address problems quickly with minimal disturbance to your training provided that you contact us promptly to seek assistance.

We understand that you don’t want to miss out on training, be assured that we won’t advise you to stop running unless it’s completely necessary. If your injury problems persist beyond 72 hours it is best to book a consultation. Appointments are usually available within 48 hours.

Most distance running injuries are due to overuse and will reoccur unless the root cause is identified and managed appropriately.

Track & Field

As former athletes we have an insight into all of the track and field disciplines. This gives us a greater depth of understanding when identifying the causes of your problem and enables us to work with your coach to integrate your rehabilitation back into your training. This approach will lead to a faster return to competition and a lower likelihood of recurrence of injury.

I now see my visits to 'Athlete Matters' as an important part of my whole training programme. 'Athlete Matters' are very professional, friendly and willing to go the extra mile when a visit is required at short notice."

"Athlete Matters utilised in-depth knowledge about training and racing for my event 3000m steeplechase to ensure my goals were achieved, despite an ongoing injury problem. Their sensitive and skilful approach proved invaluable, enabling me to continue training and competing at a high level over the summer track season culminating in 4th place at the Europeans and narrowly missing out on the British record.

I'm really grateful for the interest and dedication given to me. "

Michelle Ross-Cope

GB European Championships and Commonwealth games 2010 top British finisher
Michelle Ross-Cope

"When you step up to long distance running, one thing you have to do is look after yourself. Both before and after racing keeping your body in the best condition possible is of great importance. No point putting all the miles in if when you turn up on the line your body can't do the job needed. Something I've found makes all the difference is good physio, both for treating injuries but for helping to ensure you don't get them in the first place. I'm very selective in who I'm prepared to trust my legs to, and I go to Athlete Matters for all the weekly stretching and maintenance that my body requires. "
