World half marathon championships
Salford lecturer in physiotherapy and sport, Duncan Mason, has been selected by UK Athletics as the Great Britain team physiotherapist for the 18th World Half Marathon Championships.

A GB team of five men and five women will be competing in Birmingham on Sunday, 11 October. Former World Half Marathon champion Paula Radcliffe will be competing, as will two runners Duncan has worked with as a physiotherapist and sports masseur, Andi Jones of Salford Harriers and Gareth Raven of Sale Harriers.

Call up to the GB team for the World Half marathon championships
Andi Jones celebrated his call up to the GB team for the World Half marathon championships with a win in Worsley, and a double celebration - Donna Jones the ladies winner and Andi were married last month.

Top Juniors were local triathlon star Aimee Backhouse and fellow triathlete Thomas Kneller. The fun run attracted many more families than previous years; in fact doubled – and left us somewhat short of prizes – please accept our sincere apologies for this. We hope you had an enjoyable day out.

A big thank you to the runners, local community and sponsors for supporting this event. Watch this space for confirmation of a date for 2010!
